I was asked to make a masculine gift by the wife of a dentist. I really don't know how to translate that so I suggested maybe a rustic looking crate gift basket with some flowers. She was cool with it so I proceeded with making this. I should have made an appointment to scale my teeth on the day I delivered it coz I'm kinda a lil overdue. :/ Oh well.

Pink
Growing up I was never that fond of pink colored things. Dark blue was my favorite as a kid but always found myself loving other colors too. I wouldn't say pink was my least favorite color but I was just never that girly. Growing up I learned about Pantone in art school and I thought that was pure genius but it got me even more indecisive when I have to choose colors for my projects. These days I just let the flowers speak to me when a client gives me complete freedom to do whatever the hell I want! So no more choosing colors from a chart, less headache. Plus you just gotta take what's available and deal with it.

Box it
For most store openings you will find the usual congratulatory flowers right outside at the entrance, standing at 5.5ft up to 6ft at times. That's the norm. Personally I'm not a fan of those sort of flowers on stands and neither is this client. I was more than thrilled to make this and have it in a box with a rustic touch.

Round and round
This delivery for the clients mom took me awhile to find the house. Can you believe that there's a map of that housing area for people to find the roads? I thought it was pretty funny but I did get a tad lost in there even with the map. Why do people need to live in such a complicated community? Although all the houses there are huge. I saw one house which was still under construction and the design was PERFECT for a Halloween party. I had to take a picture to show my best friend but I wont be sharing it here. I'm just babbling.... forgive me.

Flowers & Scones hits back
So a returning client wants to give more of these scones with flowers away. I must say its pretty fun to make them and therapeutic too. My current oven is broken and Amelia is now way too occupied with her other business (non bakery) to bake me anything. I will have a brand new oven once my new home is ready. Yup I'm moving! I can't wait to start baking again just for fun as I use to make pretty good cookies back then. The Mr. and I bought ourselves a red KitchenAid mixer but without our oven it still sits in the box. I also can't wait to set up my lil nook of a studio to make my flowers! I'm pretty darn excited bout that space...although I'm sharing it with the washing machine but that's all good. I can keep an eye on the laundry I guess.

Placid blue 2.0
Following from placid blue post, these are the flowers for the actual wedding day by the same client. I scored that giant hydrangea for her bouquet and mind you there's only ONE stalk in there. That's how big it was. By this point I really wanted to not see a hydrangea for a couple of week because it's exhausting keeping them alive. :/

New year's best start
Everyone looks forward to a new year. Fresh start, new beginnings, reason to party. It was indeed a new beginning for me. I left my corporate job in November to do flowers full time. I never thought I'd want to be a floral designer creatively called or just simply a florist. I have to say the new year started really well as I made my favorite bridal bouquet to date. I almost did not want to give it away but I did not have enough spares to make me another. I was really glad my client loved it too and the peony & hydrangea survived the wedding day despite our weather. To more favorite bridal bouquets!

He's probably not the one
It's really not the end of the world when you break up with your significant other. Trust me, it's not worth getting worked up on it (for too long). And sometimes you can count on a really good friend to cheer you up! Like sending you flowers when you least expect it. See? Who needs a significant other when real friends will always be there?

Happy Birthday Popo!
Don't you ever...ever use distance as an excuse! This young lady ordered these from Oz land for her grandmother's birthday. Men please take note. It really is the effort and thought that counts. Apparently this pot lasted way longer than it should have. I'm glad to hear that.

Optimus Prime
I admit I LOVED THIS BOUQUET TO BITS! Why was I never given flowers like this??? Honestly I've never made anything this big so it was a great experience. I would LOVE to do it again. Somebody please order this or something similar again. Please? Pretty please?

Flowers for the South
I was pretty stoked to make these for a company's annual dinner held in a state down south. I really did slave my butt off all night. My biggest fears when working with hydrangeas is a wilting one. I think they are complicated bunch because sometimes they are fine without air-conditioning, just heaps of cold water suffice but sometimes even sticking em back into the fridge doesn't work. I learned how to revive them on my own...slowly but surely through many trials and experimenting. I find it works best when you snip the stems short..say about 3 to 4 inches diagonally so it has a larger surface to absorb the water but I also snip the stem right in the middle, creating a slit at the end of the stem. I then add some flower food into cold water and stick the whole thing into the fridge. I kept checking on it the whole time I was up making flowers but it just looked dead in there. I decided to just let it sit inside and see the results the next morning. The next morning VOILA! It ressurected!! So I learned it can take up to 12 hours for it to slowly revive.

Buffet flowers
I rather enjoyed making this one. Vase is wrapped with raw Shantung silk. This was ordered for Christmas so this gives you an idea how belated my posts really are. My sincere apologies.

To great husbands
A family friend ordered these for his wife. Well I must take some credit for suggesting these peonies when they were in season for a brief moment. I couldn't stop smelling them all night. Good choice.

What are the odds
Sometimes simplicity is more, or was it less is more? Same thing. These were ordered by different people, yet they both wanted plain roses. I was close to asking "Are you sure you don't know Nur?"

EGG
Just when I found a new place to dine while delivering this order for the opening or E.G.G at Sunway (look it up) the Mr. said it's not his thing. Oh well... So I can't say I've been there because I was really just there to drop these congratulatory flowers off. Oh good God, the reflection off the marble wall is hideous. My apologies. Still trying to fund myself for a good camera but until then you guys have to just deal with my iPhone photos.

Wedding season started
I can't remember for the life of me why these were taken at night and with such bad lighting. I could have finished it earlier...probably something came up. Who knows. I do remember delivering it very early in the morning though. Zzzz.....

Color Phunk
I'm always impressed with natures beauty. God is pure genius I must say. He's beyond creative, artistic and makes the most overwhelming beautiful things like this hydrangea.

Placid Blue and the case of the Blues.
In all my years as a designer (of all sorts), I never knew of this color called Placid Blue until one day a client shared with me the colors she chose for her wedding. I Googled it and....."Ah". I call it Baby blue or powder blue. First bouquet I made for her was for her pre-wedding photoshoot. Anyhow, there weren't that many blue flowers to choose from at that point of time, so the light blue hydrangea was our best. I apologize for the bad lighting and background, but the floral supplier I ordered my flowers from back then were not too reliable. My hydrangea never made it over for me to pick up, I had to wait for the last shipment till 7 in the evening, rushed back to make this and deliver it immediately after. I've since then stopped ordering from them.

For a birthday boy
Don't you just love hearing girls sending guys flowers? This gives me an opportunity to create something less girly or romantic and something with more of an edge but still allowing some room for something a little delicate, precious & pretty. I figured a guy probably wouldn't know what to do with a vase after the blooms have wilted or with a wrapped bouquet as he also wouldn't know to leave it wrapped or remove the wrapping and arrange it in a vase. Does he even have a vase at home? I wonder. Lets jut put it in a box. A very guy thing to do I thought, men with their toolboxes, junk in boxes, they wear boxers... ANYWAY so I decide it shall be in a box. So here it is in a box.

Congratulations, you did it!
I'm not a big fan of congratulatory flowers on those very dated metal stands. I would however suggest something more chic but due to budget constrains I have to use it. I did cover it up with brown paper for a more rustic look. The direction was - colorful, big, bright. I salvaged an old palm leaf with it's leaves sawed off. I love using dried twigs & leaves.
Mr P nosing around. He wasn't any help that day
